A CHRISTMAS message
I was so impressed with this message today...I wanted to leave these thoughts during this Christmas season. Christmas gifts suggested by President Howard W. Hunter:
- Give to your enemy forgiveness,
- To your opponent tolerance,
- To your friend your heart,
- To all men charity, for the hands that help
- Are holier than the lips that pray,
- To every child a good example.
- and to yourself--respect
This Christmas, mend a quarrel. Seek out a forgotten friend. Dismiss suspicion and replace it with trust. Write a letter. Give a soft answer. Encourage youth. Manifest your loyalty in word and deed. Keep a promise. Forgo a grudge. Forgive an enemy. Apologize. Try to understand. Examine your demands on others. Think first of someone else. Be kind. Be gentle. Laugh a little more. Express your gratitude. Welcome a stranger. Gladden the heart of a child. Take pleasure in the beauty and wonder of the earth. Speak your love and then speak it again.
Christmas is a celebration, and there is no celebration that compares with the realization of its true meaning--with the sudden stirring of the heart that has extended itself unselfishly in the things that matter most.
I love the words in these thoughts!!! Our family wrote down gifts this evening of things that we would like to give to the Savior this year. I loved to think about what I could do for the Savior, after all he has given me and my family. I am so grateful for this time to have my thoughts turn solely to him...as he is always there for me. What a beautiful time of year. May we all enjoy this season. Merry Christmas!

embracing HUGS with Great Grandma
We visited and brought smiles...and enjoyed each other...yet grandma struggled to hear...
The children gathered as Jaren said a prayer to help grandma find her hearing aid that had been lost for most of the week. The cleaning ladies of her assisted living were unable to find the priceless plastic device that helps give our grandma the sweet sounds that she hears. Grandma fell near her bedroom door and was not able to find the hearing aid that tumbled out of her ear.
Sure enough...a small voice prompted us to look right under where our grandma was sitting...her tiny hearing aid was caught underneath her chair among the metal legs. We exchanged several hugs. We felt so blessed. Grandma Swenson was comforted once more. Grandmas Animal Crackers were handed out in celebration. We gave thanks to our Savior.

Teaching the value of Saving
Our boys have had a coin collector box since they could barely walk...we broke them open today to see how much change could be found. Every cent will be contributed to their missionary fund. A great investment.
Cade was mostly excited about looking at all of the dates on the coins instead of counting the money.

a HIPPOPOTOMUS for Christmas
Brooklyn & Mom literally have butterflies in our tummies as we anticipate Brooklyn's first singing performance in front of a large audience of people we did not know....Somehow the short time on moms lap made everything just a little bit better.
The Sunbeam Bunch
Grandma Hawks gave Brooklyn some of her first singing lessons....I just want to hug them all! Brooklyn, Aubryn, and Madalyn...quite the threesome!!! If only I could keep them little...

Island Park getaway...
The boys loved the bullets that were left behind on the geo-caching hunt. Carter was the first to spot the camoflauged treasure box amongst several fallen trees.
lovin' the snow
ATV rides while being pulled on the sled...A great time to enjoy the outdoors.
Island Parks gas station runs became an all time favorite...Uncle Aaron treated everyone every time they filled up.

Dress ups...play days...& marshmallows
Good Times...Great Friends
Dress ups are paired up with lots of glass slippers and high heels. Dancing becomes everyones favorite thing to do. The girls twirl so much to princess music that we all get Dizzy!
Reflections
Jaren entered the Reflections contest in 6th grade...(a requirement). He wanted to enter his project in video. The theme for the year was WOW! He came up with his idea of having dancing play dough in several screens dancing to Brahms forming the words Wow! Afterwards he used his own voice saying Wow...several times saying this is WOW!! It was pretty fun to see him do this project and work so hard. Here he is with some great friends anticipating the winners.
A definite winner...Jaren won 1st place in the video category.
Jaren, Jefferey, & David excited about the results...but even more excited about the prizes and the treats afterwards.

Brooklyn can hardly wait to race her friends to the nearest bubblegum machine that is placed conveniently by the exit door. Every time we go to tumbling...we aim for a higher jump...an extra cartwheel...an attempted flip....extra time on the bunji cords...etc., but most of all...just a great time of having fun. The girls are motivated by gum...! Ashley, Abby and Brooklyn have so much gum in their mouths when we leave that they can barely talk. The threesome are so excited to tell me about their latest adventures...but are often left unheard, because of the giant wads of gum they consume on the ride home. Who would have guessed that so much joy could come from a giant gumball.
Ta Dah!! A look at me moment...and watch what I can do....I love this age...if only I could keep them little.
